Paul Byrne is the Group Treasury for Pepper Group.
In this role, Paul is focused on ensuring effective sourcing of debt domestically and offshore to meet the ongoing funding requirements of the business, managing all secured and unsecured loan and debt capital market facilities, managing interest rate risk, foreign currency risk, liquidity and market/balance sheet risk, and for developing appropriate Treasury strategies in relation to debt capital management.
Most recently he was Group Treasurer of QBE Insurance, where he built a global treasury function, transformed the balance sheet, and implemented an ongoing engagement model with debt markets, whilst reducing its cost of funds.
Paul has also held executive / senior treasury positions with Irish bank PTSB, AIG, Merrill Lynch (where he was Treasurer of all of their banks throughout the financial crises), Avaya, SEB & Citibank. With over 20 years’ experience, Paul is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
